Novo Nordisk, Jacobs Ink Pilot Plant Contract

Novo Nordisk has signed a contract with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC) for a research and development facility in Bagsværd, Denmark. Jacobs is providing engineering, procurement and construction management services for a new purification pilot plant that will initially involve one purification line. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
 
Novo Nordisk aims to expand capacity to produce APIs for a number of diabetes drugs in development, potentially doubling future production capacity. The pilot plant is expected to be fully operational by late 2016.
 
“We expect the new purification pilot plant to significantly increase our capacity for early-phase diabetes projects,” said Jesper Bᴓving, senior vice president, CMC Supply, part of Novo Nordisk R&D.
